Lone Star Round Up Garage Crawl

Friday April 17th, 2026, is almost here so it is time once again to dust off the old heap, check your tires, top up the gas tank and join us for the Lonestar Round Up Garage Crawl. Our starting point for the Garage Crawl will be…

Speeding Springs located at 7100 Creek Road, Dipping Springs, TX 78620

They will have the main gate open at 7:00am. PLEASE don’t block the gate as vendors (and me) will be arriving before 7:00am to set up. While there check out the impressive main building and showroom, the assembly area, upholstery shop and the new onsite antique shop which has an inventory of auto themed treasures and more. Check out their website at speedingspringstx.com. As an added treat, The Hot Rod Preserve has recently relocated from Hutto to the Speeding Springs campus and will be open early for you to visit. Check them out at hotrodpreserve.com.

Driver's meeting will be around 8:15am where we will have the crawl route available for you to photograph. We will depart immediately after the meeting and head out to our first stop. At this writing I have 6 crawl stops when we hit the road. I am also working to secure a food truck (or two) and I’ll update you as to food availability at the kickoff point. I am currently working with local law enforcement to assist with traffic. Hopefully they will be available that morning as Friday traffic is usually insane. Fingers crossed.

If you have been with us before you know the drill. If you are a first timer here is some info:

• Arrive with a full tank of gas. We will cover quite a few miles.

• NO TRAILERED CARS. This is a driving event. Rental cars are fine for out-of-town guests.

• NO PETS. Well behaved and/or restrained children are welcome but please no strollers.

• Some shops may have a project that is off limits for photos. I will inquire.

• Please no burnouts or display of speed. This could ruin future crawls.

• This is a free event. You don't have to be registered for the Round Up. Everyone is welcome.

• The crawl is timed to be done before noon and routed east to head you in the direction of the Travis County Expo Center for the Round Up.

If you have questions about the upcoming crawl, feel free to email me or text/call. I can be reached at markgus@austin.rr.com or on my wireless at (512) 496-8658.

See you bright and early on April 17th !

Pate Swap Meet

Join us at the Texas Motor Speedway this year at the Pate Swap Meet to buy and sell parts for your hot rods. We will be out all four days, be sure to stop by our booth.

The Pate Swap Meet now located at the Texas Motor Speedway (3545 Lone Star Cir, Fort Worth, TX 76177), started out as the South Central Swap Meet in 1972 when several car clubs in Texas decided that it was too much to keep going all the way up to Pennsylvania to Hershey when we could have a swap meet here in Texas.  Among the starting members were Dr. Aggie Pate, Russ Gruenwald, Barney Calvert and others from the Gulf Coast Region AACA, car club in Houston.

The Pate Swap Meet Association now consists of the 14 largest vintage car clubs in Texas, with the event serving the car restoration hobby and the collection of antique, vintage, and notable automobiles and hot rods. Pate Swap Meet is the largest event of its type in the United States. Operations of the Pate Swap Meet have been located at Texas Motor Speedway since 1998.

Vendor-wise, the event is organized by street and block and space, allowing visitors to readily locate folks eager to deal inventories of the following: New Old Stock (NOS) car parts, Genuine Old Rusty car parts, complete (and typically grease-covered) V8 engines, front clips, hoods, grilles, tires, wheels, tools, steering wheels, antique and reproduction signs and gas pumps, license plates, emblems, manuals, diecast collectibles, assorted clothing and homemade Americana yard art. Motorcycles of various makes, and their parts, occupy their own space in the Pate landscape.

Set amidst Woolaroc’s stunning natural beauty and world-class art museum, the Hot Rod Gathering is more than just a car show – it’s a journey through time, celebrating both automotive heritage and the enduring spirit of American innovation.
